As we move into a world where technology has taken over every single aspect of it, there are industries that have been around for many years that are adapting to the technology needed to keep growing. One of those industries is the heavy lifting and construction industry. Even though cranes and other equipment used to lift heavy objects and place them in another location just gets bigger, it is the advancements in technology that have fueled the growth of the industry.
Wind technology and nuclear power plants are some of the hottest topics in the construction world right now. With reports on the web indicating that wind power has finally become cheaper than nuclear, companies are racing to find places to put wind turbines to take full advantage of the clean power. Nuclear power, oil and gas industries are also growing at the same time bringing the demand for heavy lifting cranes to an all time high.
Crane companies all over the world are required to come up with heavy duty cranes that can lift more, fit into smaller places and sometimes, even float on water. Getting the construction job done is one thing. Being able to do it in safe manner and in a way that is efficient for the client is also just as important.
Companies like SGC have been getting ready to release more cranes and with each one, they can lift even more. On top of cranes being built that can perform the heaviest lifts, projects like the Mercedes-Bens stadium and the Zezelj bridge in Serbia are just a couple that require a lot of planning and engineering to work out in the end. The bridge project alone, was put together by ALE, a global heavy lifting company.
The bridge included more than 11,100 tons of materials and was more than 470 meters long when complete. ALE brought the best of the best to deploy jacks, skidding system and three pontoons with hydraulic winches, a ballast system and a bespoke gantry that was engineered just for this project.
Crane projects are piling up around the world and at the base of them are the heavy lifters. Cranes like the ones that you see in these images are heavy duty and are built in such a way that a lot of lifting can get done at on time so projects can get done faster and under budget.
